“I came to Thomas broken and in need of repair. Not only did he successfully build me back up stronger than I was before, he has given me invaluable tools that enable me to maneuver through even the most challenging of circumstances. With him I have learned and grown and deepened my practice and my relationship with my voice so much. I will be eternally grateful. I would not be able to make it through eight shows a week without everything I’ve learned from Tom Blaylock. I’m able to do more than I ever thought I could, more than I’ve ever been able to before, my recovery time is so fast and I’m able to make it through in times of trouble. I’m so so grateful for Tom. Thank you!!!

You must stay the course, my friends, and keep your instrument, strong and healthy, and as Thomas says, “in balance”. The only way to do this is to do the Blaylock Vocal Exercises every day. Oh, you can take a day off here and there, but just because you don’t have a gig in a few days, it doesn’t mean you wait to try and get ready in a hurry. I’m now preparing to open a new show in March. I’m working every day doing the exercises, learning the new material for the new show, and singing opera arias, which demand much more throughout the voice than other kinds of styles. Not because I’m going to sing them someplace, but I use them in addition to the exercises. Singing those arias was at the suggestion of Thomas to build strength throughout the voice, not just where I think I might need it. Working on new material would be difficult if I didn’t have his system. So, use your time, work the voice, and get it in shape so that you are ready for anything that might come along.”

Katherine McPhee, Singer, Song writer, Actress

“I am singing better than I ever have. It just keeps getting stronger and stronger. Pretty incredible for a gal who has beat up her voice so much over the years. You’ve made me a new woman. I cannot wait for a role that comes on Broadway where people don’t even recognize the same singer – and I give you all the credit.”

Janet Chvatal, Phantom of the Opera – Vienna

“Tom is a world class voice teacher on the level of those I have worked with in Vienna, Paris and elsewhere.”

Gino Vanelli, Grammy Nominated Singer and Songwriter

“While Tom Blaylock has been instrumental as a technical guide, his greatest strength lies with his ability to suss out a singer’s strong and weak points and apply the proper remedies to help get rid of bad habits, deficiencies and plain lack of understanding of one’s own tools … Tom also has the wider breadth of knowledge that affords him the right to comment on taste, usage of slang, vocal slurs and such, other more street-type effects singers may choose to accomplish in the pursuit of communicating a song lyric effectively … A natural approach with the most pleasing possible tone is one of Tom’s greatest contributions to my work.”

Mark W. Greenawalt, DMA, Chair of Applied Music Studies and Associate Professor of Voice, Liberty University

“Thomas Blaylock possesses a rare combination of artistic and personal qualities which make him an absolutely exceptional teacher. He is first and foremost, passionately committed to the health and longevity of the voice. This qualifies him as few others in his field as a true “teacher” of the instrument. His years of investigation and research both pedagogically and practically (with a private studio of hundreds of students) has resulted in a masterful understanding of the proper function of the voice.”

Richard A. Hodgson, MD, ENT

“I have worked with Tom Blaylock for many years. We have had many mutual patients with varying voice problems. Tom is my first choice, in fact, my only choice, for patients with vocal nodules and related conditions.”

James P. Thomas, MD ENT

“My patients get the best results for stabilization of their voice from Tom Blaylock and his Systematized Approach to Vocal Function.”

Wes Lewis, MD ENT

“Tom Blaylock has been invaluable in helping voice users and singers regain control of their voice.”

James McGuire

“Through learning Tom’s Systematized Approach to regaining my voice has made it possible for me to resume my work as a church Pastor.”

Liz Johnson

“Tom Blaylock has devised a system for training the physical voice based in logical, organized principles that give the singer a voice they can trust.  By having an ordered set of exercises, the guess work is taken out of how to exercise the voice in a way that gives dependable results.  Not only is Tom a great vocal technician, though, he is also a teacher of teachers.  By taking his summer seminars and private lessons, I’ve learned teaching techniques that have fundamentally shaped my understanding of voice and how to share that knowledge with others.”

Louise Craig

“I am 74 years old and still singing. A few weeks ago, someone came up to me after church and said, “How do you keep your voice sounding young?” If they only knew! I sounded like the worst kind of wobbly old soprano when I was in my late 30s. It was so bad, I refused to sing at all. Not even in the shower. That went on for nearly 4 years. Then a college classmate referred me to Tom Blaylock. It took two years and more than a little swallowing of my pride, before I was confident enough to sing a solo again. Now, when my voice isn’t working, if I’ve been ill, tired, or whatever excuse we singers manufacture to cover our insecurities, I just focus on the exercises and tools Tom provided. I can get my voice to work again. Thanks, Tom.”

Deanna Maio, Confident Voice Studio & Portland Musical Theater Company

“I sang my entire life navigating two big challenges. 1. A break in the middle of my voice that felt like it was the size of the Grand Canyon and 2. I had one sound I could use on stage, loud (and let’s face it, usually a bit flat) I sang musical theater in high school and then summer stock, without a mic, and I had to be heard. I got booked into a singing group and wasn’t going to hold my own if I didn’t do something.
Then I met Tom Blaylock. Not only did I learn how to use my voice in a healthy way and avoid damage, but I gained power, control, better tone and pitch and ELIMINATED my break. I can regularly sing 7 days a week including rehearsals and performances without strain or pain. I can adjust my sound healthfully to be perfect for whatever style the gig calls for.
After coaching so many other performers on stage presence I finally added the Blaylock Vocal Method to my toolkit so I could help other singers. Now I can help them get the same results I’ve benefited from, no matter what genre or style they want to sing. I am beyond blessed to be able to use the Blaylock Vocal Method to keep my voice healthy and ready for my crazy singing schedule and to share it with my clients and the singing actors I cast in my shows.”
